okay… so i know i said last friday that i would be posting on saturday..

that plan failed.

but i don’t care,

because i got to spend the day with my lovely family and play and get soaked in the little kiddie pool, thanks to miss harleycorn (see the little mischievous gorilla below).

and every night after work this week has been busy.

this is harley, my adorable niece.

gavin, my other boyfriend. i mean nephew. hehe. when nic and i first started dating, gav would flirt with me so we called him my other boyfriend. nic has always been a little bit jealous of our relationship. ;) hah.

helicopters are exciting to 2 and 3 year olds.

they like to go on walks before bedtime when they visit grandma.

i love these babies, and how cute are they? so lucky to call them my niece and nephews.

they’re getting a little brother soon too!

i can’t wait for this saturday. i get to do bridals photos for this couple, the same two i did engagements in payson for and shared a couple weeks ago.

they are so cute!

and their wedding is next friday. so excited for them!

she yelled at me for 5 minutes straight, telling me how i had no business asking for that information.. blah blah blah.

(i had every right to be asking… it has everything to do with the purpose of, gee.. i don’t know, making it possible for someone to buy a home to live in!)

and when i responded all nice and polite, she hung up on me.

i spent the next hour crying.

you may think i’m a big baby or a sissy for crying,

but really, i don’t like getting yelled at.

especially when i have no reason to be yelled at.

maybe she was having a bad day or something..

that still is no excuse to be mean and treat someone like that.

i really can’t stand the negativity and rudeness of people in this world.

it makes me so sad that people treat eachother this way.

we are all human.

we all have skin and bones.

we all have emotions, faults, goals, passions.

no one is above anyone else.

so don’t think you can treat someone less than you should be treated.

it’s downright immature.

…

there’s my sermon for the day.

go give of yourself today, treat others with kindness, make someone smile, you’re more likely to get what you want out of life if you live positively.

okay, funky lighting, shifted clothes, and ugly hair. what’s the deal?

(the hairs didn’t want to cooperate for anything yesterday. if i take time to primp and make my outfit perfect, nic will lose interest and not want to do the photos, so it’s “now or never” and we were losing light.)

i thought if i chopped my hair, it would be at least a tad (even a teeny tiny) less greasy.

fooled me there, hairs!

it’s back to grease, nonstop.

time for new shampoo/conditioner.

does sephora and other beauty stores have samples of nice hair products?

i’m about ready to pay up the wall for something to stop this madness.

i have the opportunity for a new experience coming up.

i get to be a mentor for a lovely lady soon.

they say you can’t grow if you stay in your comfort zone.

this is definitely out of my comfort zone,

and i can’t wait to see what great things come from it.

and i’d read a blog post yesterday by richie norton about personal branding

i loved this part:

“You could be the nicest guy or gal in the world, but if people think you’re a jerk (because of something they came across online or elsewhere)…that’s your brand. If a search for your name pulls up a nasty rant you made on a forum, guess what? You’re not so great anymore to the person trying to learn more about you: you’re a troll. Or at the very least it triggers uncertainty about who you are, so searchers have to dig deeper to try and find the real you. (Most people aren’t willing to do that kind of work.)”

my brain has been a little disfunctional the last couple days.

i think it has left me and gone to california.

nic and i are planning on taking a vacation in december.

we were wanting to go on a cruise to the bahamas, but alas,

i am not 21 yet, so we cannot go unless if we have someone over 25..

and having a tagalong doesn’t sound like the most exciting thing for our first real vacation together.

we will be going to california instead.

i may have said it before, but i’ve never been to disneyland.

i don’t think i want to wait until december to go though..

i’m super impatient and haven’t been to california in almost 2 years.

i vote a weekend trip.

i promise, i will start to be more adventurous for the outfits.

i returned the 5d mark iii, so i’m having to get used to a cropped sensor again, so it makes it a little more difficult for outfit posts (especially in our little patio). ;)

this weekend’s projects include purging my closet of all unnecessary items – boxing winter clothes since i won’t need them for another 7 months, and donating neglected items to goodwill, clearing the house of clutter. oh, and writing our thank you cards… now that it’s been almost 4 months since the wedding.. hah. we suck.

yay for spring.. err.. practically summer cleaning!

we’ve only been in our place for the same amount of time we’ve been married and i’m already tempted to redecorate.

some days i love shabby chic, french girly, vintage decor (which is what our house is now).

other days i love classic decor or minimalistic.. or just rustic.. i dont’ know!!

one of the things i love about all of these images, is that most of them look homey. like i could curl up in most of the spots and read a good book, write a letter, make memories with my future family, or just breathe the fresh air drifting through the windows.

p.s. the title of this post came from a video i watched yesterday about radical self love by gala darling. it is fabulous and worth the watch. find it here.

it was so sweet, they said i was their first choice in photographers.

it made my heart all warm and fuzzy.

but it made me so sad to say i couldn’t be their photographer.

seriously, still so bummed thinking about it.

i was able to help with their photobooth, so i’m glad i got to help in some way.

before the reception i wandered around taking photos of the decor.

and i stole the bridesmaids away for some quick shots.

on an even sadder note, i didn’t even get to take any photos of the breathtaking bride and dashing groom. i have one shot, but it’s the back of their heads leaving the building (meh!!). but take it from me, kels was super gorgeous, you would have been sad not to be able to take her photo too!

this is shelby, also a long time friend. (we grew up in the same ward together) she is one of the sweetest girls ever!

all of their decorations were so cute! it made me want to jump back into my wedding day!

like i said, i was not able to photograph their whole day as the main photographer, so in a way, i was like a “behind the scenes second shooter”

and i got really upset when one of my second shooters took credit for the wedding she shot with me,

so i’m giving credit to the main photographer, Jacqui of sweet snapshots photography.

i had to make a phone call at work and the lady was just a little bit rude and when i hung up i started crying.

a. i had a headache taking over my brain that was making me a bit dizzy and lethargic.

i absolutely love it. one of her blog posts this week was about photographer’s signature styles, found here. i love that she wrote about this topic. it sure opened my eyes.

“Sometimes it’s nice to look at your work over the past year as a collection as opposed to individual shoots. For some reason it adds more interest and tells more of a story of who you are as a photographer. Not only that, but it makes your signature style almost obvious. Which is ironic, because for the most part you tend to be totally unaware of it.” – alex beadon

it’s fun to see many of my photos together in one space. it’s true, my style has definitely always been present. and i’m glad i’m seeing that now.

a designer/photographer, promise tangeman (love her blog!) said (here),

Because when you go looking for it….you will most likely end up finding the SAME ONE that everyone else has. We can see that in our industry already. That’s what trends and fads are. They are styles that people have “found” and claimed as their own eliminating uniqueness and creativity all together.”

i can’t wait to see in another year, how i’ve grown and enhanced my style, simply by being me.

a. because my website is costing me practically more than i’m making. i love having my own custom design, but really, the cost is not worth it at the moment.

b. my current photo blog is broken.

c. i love the simplicity, and everything combined into one.
